Tasty 300 – Description

Inspired by the popular wish of our students to explore more of the beautiful Adriatic coast and excellent Croatian food while sailing we have created the “Tasty 300”.

A course that combines a 300 NM “mile builder” with a gastro-adventure in the beautiful Adriatic sea. So you ll get the opportunity to enjoy local food and wine in our top pick restaurants. All this visiting picturesque Dalmatian island villages and docking in a different port every night.

The Croatian cuisine has historically been influenced by the Italian, Austrian, Hungarian and Ottoman. Despite that it also developed a variety of stunning original recipes. The country has a relatively small area but is home to three different climate zones. Because of this an exciting, rich, diverse culinary tradition was created and is now waiting to be explored.

Among the most popular dishes along the coastline don’t miss the chance to taste the top ten.

For appetizer fans the Pršut (traditional ham), the famous Pag sheep Cheese and the popular octopus salad. Then the heart warming black cuttlefish risotto, the prawn risotto and the Skradin veal risotto. Don t miss the chance to try the mythical Brudet (a hearty fish stew-soup) or Gregada… Pasta lovers should taste the shrimp buzara spaghetti or lobster pasta. And then there is Peka – a traditional way of preparing food (fish, octopus or meat – lamb, veal, chicken with potatoes and vegetables) under a cast iron bell covered in hot charcoal….

Season this all with the excellent domestic olive oil and enjoy a sip of wine. Speaking about wine – Croatia is home to 250 grape types with 130 of them being indigenous. The most famous of them in Dalmatia being Plavac mali, Babic and Tribidrag (red) and Žlahtina, Bogdanuša, Pošip and Bugava (white).  Find the one you prefer – and toast to another exciting sailing day…

We’ll meet in Jezera on Saturday, check-in on our flagship the SY “Pisces” – an  extraordinary Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 First Line, buy our provisions and get ready for the cruise.

On Sunday, we’ll sail out for the first leg of our voyage. Our sailing area stretches from the islands of Vis, Korcula, Hvar, Lastovo up to the National Park Kornati islands and Telascica bay. The exact route is the instructors call – depending on the weather (safety always comes first).

We will be returning to Jezera, packed with new experiences next Friday afternoon/evening.

This is not a fixed program course like our RYA courses, since our primary goal is sailing and enjoying. Besides adding ca 300 sailing miles to your log-book, you’ll get plenty of opportunities to learn. The instructor will teach you the large boat sailing and safety basics, navigating with plotter and paper charts, trip planning and using radar and meteorological basics.

To be able to fully participate and enjoy the adventure, a minimum of basic sailing knowledge is required (RYA Competent Crew or a basic sailing course of a similar level).

This program does not include night sailing passages. We plan to sail quite some miles during the daytime and dock every night in a different port. This way we ll be able to relax and enjoy dinners and sundowners in lovely island towns of Croatia.

Beneteau Oceanis 51.1 First Line – Pisces

Performance with style and luxury

Famous French shipyard Beneteau announced the Oceanis 51.1 as the first in a new generation of cruising yachts - spacious, elegant, cleverly designed, easy to handle, fast and comfortable. And they delivered big, as usual. From its introduction, the model collected appraisals all over the sailing community because of its innovative and bold design.

When Beneteau announced the model in 2018., we realised we wanted one in our fleet and acted fast. So one of the first yachts produced and delivered in Croatia was our Pisces. Since we love performance yachts, we opted for the 'First' line model.

Compared to the owner and charter versions, she has a higher mast, more sailarea and an longer performance keel. There are also four electrical winches compared to the usual hand-operated two. She has a fully battened main sail and a large genoa. An additional self tacking storm fock and a Code Zero sail that enhances her performance in light winds.

However, her sailing abilities don't overshadow all the comfort and luxury the yacht enables her crew. Its clever design makes her interior and cockpit space unparalleled in the class. That is the main reason we chose it for our Mile Building programs.

We're sure you'll enjoy both of her sides and quickly realise why she's the true queen of our fleet. In her almost 15 meters, there's enough room for four large double-bed cabins with en suite shower and toilette each. Additionally, there is a skipper cabin with a shower too. All wastewater goes to holding tanks.

Her kitchen is worthy of a true chef and a saloon the size of the living room, with a smart TV. Thanks to large windows, the interior is bathing in the sunlight. The cockpit offers many relaxation and sunbathing areas, including a large - remotely controlled - swimming platform and a wide teak cockpit table with an integrated fridge.

However, there are also white carbon steering wheels and performance electrical winches for a complete sailing experience. Three chart plotters - two outside and one inside - and navigation instruments, including three race instruments on the mast bracket, are the latest Garmin models. A radar enhances navigation safety.

With heating installed, a freshwater tank of 770 litres, a fuel tank of 400 litres, and a 110 horsepower engine, she'll be a pleasant and luxurious home, even on an extended offshore cruise.
